What You'll Learn
Upon completion, students are qualified to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant
(CPA) examination.
Additionally, students completing the accounting program
- will demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge in financial accounting and reporting, federal taxation of individuals and corporations, auditing, cost accounting and accounting information systems;
- will be able to critically analyze new practices and procedures for their aesthetic qualities and express the evaluation in written and oral form;
- will demonstrate proficiency in the following basic skills including communication skills, critical thinking and analytical skills, information technology skills, teamwork, ethics, and globalization.
The fundamental areas in accounting include auditing (internal and external), forensic accounting, corporate financial accounting, managerial accounting, individual taxation, and business taxation. The M.S. program in accounting includes skill development in financial statement preparation and analysis, auditing, and individual and corporate tax preparation and planning.

Successful ESU graduates pursue careers as controllers, chief financial officers, government accountants, budget directors, internal or external auditors, forensic accountants, firm valuation experts, personal and corporate tax accountants, and non-profit organization accountants.
