With a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from East Stroudsburg University, you can learn about the chemical processes that take place in living things.
Research in nutrition, physiology, and the environmental and health sciences is now based on biochemical ideas and methodologies. Graduates of the 120-credit program are prepared for advanced study in biochemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, cell biology, and other related fields, as well as a variety of careers in science, medicine, and technology.
Why ESU?
- Small class sizes
- Safe, modern, well-equipped facilities
- Practical field experiences
- Qualified, experienced faculty
- Varied lab courses on the chemistry/biology interface
The foundations of physics, mathematics, and biology are combined with chemistry and biology principles in the biochemistry curriculum. Whereas biology investigates the science of life and living things, chemistry is the study of atoms' structure and composition. You will study how chemical bonds allow atoms and molecules to combine to form new chemical compounds. Students will then delve further into the chemical processes necessary for the existence of living things, including their physical makeup, functions, and chemical composition.
In the classroom, faculty members promote hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. In addition, you'll develop your practical research and teamwork skills while solving real-world problems in cutting-edge laboratories. Students majoring in biochemistry participate in cutting-edge research, innovative scientific discoveries, and novel insights that advance society.
What You'll Learn
- The materials of life itself
- Exploring submicroscopic nature
- Investigating
- Chemical secrets of biology
- Developing laboratory skills
- A young and rapidly-changing sub-discipline
