ESU's Biotechnology (B.S.) program is one of the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, and it serves the growing biotechnology industry in northeast Pennsylvania, northwestern New Jersey, and the Lehigh Valley.
The powerful tools of biotechnology have revolutionized medicine, agriculture, and environmental protection, and ESU Biotechnology majors are playing a role in this revolution. The Biotechnology program developed as a response to student interest and the need for qualified, well-trained graduates in this emerging field, and our program is one of the first of its kind in Pennsylvania.
The Biotechnology program at ESU provides students with hands-on, personalized instruction with small class sizes, qualified and experienced faculty, state-of-the art laboratory equipment, opportunities for gaining practical lab experience, and participation in internships and undergraduate research. Our graduates also have excellent job placement rates.
Why ESU?
- ESU Biology courses are taught by faculty members who all have terminal (Ph.D. or Sc.D.) degrees in biology and who provide personal attention to our students.
- Our courses combine instruction in basic science with practical training in lab techniques so students are well prepared for careers in biotechnology.
- ESU students have many options for internships with local biotech and pharmaceutical companies so they can obtain hands-on experience – and make connections for future jobs.
- ESU students have many opportunities for undergraduate research related to biotechnology.
