The Environmental Science minor at East Stroudsburg University provides students with hands-on, personalized instruction in environmental science and prepares them for a wide range of careers that require a background in environmental biology.
ESU offers a minor in Environmental Science for students interested in interdisciplinary training for careers requiring the application of environmental science skills and concepts, such as environmental policy or environmental economics.
The Environmental Science minor provides students majoring outside of biological sciences training in the fundamental concepts of environmental science. Students completing this minor will receive the necessary background to focus on environmental applications in their selected career paths.
Our students are taught by full-time faculty members with doctoral degrees in Biology, and we offer a broad range of courses related to environmental science.
Why ESU?
- ESU Biology courses are taught by faculty members who all have terminal (Ph.D. or Sc.D.) degrees in biology and who provide personal attention to our students.
- The environmental science minor can complement many Bachelor’s Degree programs available at ESU.
- We offer many courses in ecology and organismal biology so students can also pursue their own areas of interest in elective courses.
- ESU students have many options for internships with government agencies and conservation organizations to obtain hands-on experience in environmental science – and make connections for future jobs.
What You'll Learn
Students in the Environmental Science minor will learn fundamental concepts in the scientific study of the environment, including principles of biology, chemistry, and ecology.
Students will also learn how to carry out experiments, analyze data, and give presentations on environmental science to both scientific and general audiences.
Career Opportunities
A minor in Environmental Science is a good choice for those who plan to work in careers that require application of environmental perspectives as well as expertise in the student’s major field of study, such as environmental policy and law, advocacy, or environmental economics.
