Qualtrics is a cloud-based survey tool that helps faculty, students, and staff build and distribute surveys, view reports, and tabulate and analyze responses.
Qualtrics is now available to all ESU faculty, staff, and students at no cost.
So, what does this mean for you? Here’s how you can put Qualtrics to work:
- Faculty: Embed surveys into D2L courses, gather data for research projects, collaborate with users across other institutions
- Students: Develop surveys, plan data collection, and analyze results to drive the student research experience
- Staff: Embed surveys into your department websites, survey your department, campus, or a custom population to gather data
If you are currently an active faculty, staff or student you may request a Qualtrics account.
All Qualtrics accounts are available three to five business days after your initial request and all Institutional Research requirements are satisfied.
Who can use Qualtrics
Qualtrics is restricted to university-related work. Using Qualtrics for third-party, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations are not allowed, nor is personal use not related to the University. Users may not use Qualtrics for personal or commercial gain

Qualtrics is restricted to university-related work. Using Qualtrics for third-party, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations are not allowed, nor is personal use not related to the University Official Business or student coursework. Users may not use Qualtrics for personal or commercial gain. All users who submit a request for access confirm they are abiding by FERPA, HIPPA, IRB and ESU Policies.
For research survey projects that include human subjects please refer to IRB link provided to determine procedures for protocol submission and review.
Qualtrics has a tool that checks to see if your survey is accessible (508 Compliant); being accessible means that people using various assistive devices and not necessarily a standard web browser can still participate in your survey. The accessibility checker tool will scan your survey, highlight issues it finds, and suggest the corrections you can make to resolve them. When creating a survey, it is suggested that you always use this tool to make your survey as accessible as possible.
Proposed surveys should comply with East Stroudsburg University policies regarding collection information, personally identifying information (i.e., FERPA, HIPPA, etc.)
