Get Work Experience Through Internships
No matter your major, an internship is a chance for you to gain real-world work experience in a job or career of interest. Our for-credit internships involve partnerships between students, ESU, and employers, helping students connect classroom knowledge to the workplace.
Internships: What to Expect
- Most internships are part-time, temporary positions that last 3 to 6 months.
- Some internships are full-time for a semester.
- Internships can also take place over summer or winter breaks.
- For-credit internships usually require a certain number of credits and approval from your department, so check with your advisor.
- Non-credit internships can be done anytime as long as you meet the employer’s qualifications.
- Some majors require internships, but for most, they’re optional. However, all students are encouraged to gain work experience before they graduate.
- Remember, all necessary paperwork and approvals must be completed before starting any internship. Check with your department for specific guidelines.
